One Location or Two?

You’ve found your dream ceremony space—but the reception options aren’t quite right. Do you keep everything in one place, or split locations?

Do you have your dream ceremony in this space and just deal with the reception space even though it isn't your favorite? Or, do you still plan to have the ceremony in this space and look for a different space for the reception?

Here are some pros and cons to both options:

Option 1: Same location

Pros

  • Convenience for guests (no travel)

  • Easier timeline management

  • Often more cost-efficient (bundled pricing)

  • Less coordination stress

Cons

  • Limited variety in scenery/vibe

  • May feel less “grand” or traditional for some couples

  • Venue restrictions (space flips, noise rules, etc.)

Option 2: Different locations

Pros

  • More customization (e.g., religious ceremony + modern reception)

  • Distinct atmospheres for each part of the day

  • More venue flexibility

Cons

  • Transportation logistics

  • Risk of guests getting lost or arriving late

  • Potentially higher costs

  • More planning complexity

Key questions to ask:

  • What’s our budget?

  • How important is guest convenience?

  • Do we have a specific ceremony requirement (religious, cultural)?

  • How large is our guest list?

  • Are venues close together?

These are all really important things to consider! Whatever you decide will work out wonderfully for you especially if you hire a professional planner to cover all the details!
